Where is Jimmy?
“Where is Jimmy“ is our project based on another pre-existing project developed by a couple of Neapolitan programmers.
“Jimmy“ is the name of the rover made of PVC pipes and 3D printed joints that make it so light and simple to make.
We will connect it to RoboArm so that can be used to take samples to analyse, perform dangerous maneuvers that humans can not do (such as assembling or disassembling objects in radioactive or contaminated locations, defusing bombs, getting into confined spaces and things like this).
It will work in two ways (like RoboArm):
-The first is the manually controlled mode; it will be controlled by a Logitech joystick and programmed using an Arduino Schetch (just like RoboArm);
-The second is the self-controlled way; it will be controlled by an Arduino code that recognizes objects, moves towards them, analyses them with a camera and whether they are useful or the target of a mission will automatically work on them. Collect samples based on their shape, their colour and thanks to a very precise analysis it will automatically understand if their weight is lower or higher than the arm’s reach, in case it is greater the sample will not be taken.
